Turkey – European Union Troika Ministerial Meeting was held at Four Seasons Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul. Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu represented Turkey in the meeting with their accompanying delegations. Foreign Minister of the EU President Sweden Carl Bildt, Spanish Secretary of State for EU Diego Lopez Garrido and Marc Pierini, the head of the European Commission Delegation to Turkey also attended the meeting.

Türkiye-AB Troykası Bakanlar Toplantısı İstanbul’da, Four Seasons Bosphorus Oteli’nde gerçekleştirildi. Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış ve Dışişleri Bakanı Ahmet Davutoğlu, beraberlerindeki heyet ile birlikte Türkiye adına toplantıya katıldılar. AB Dönem Başkanı İsveç’i temsilen Dışişleri Bakanı Carl Bildt, İspanya’yı temsilen AB Devlet Sekreteri Diego Lopez Garrido’nun katıldığı toplantıda, AB Komisyonu Ankara Daimi Temsilcisi Marc Pierini de yer aldı.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis talked to British Minister for Europe Chris Bryant on phone. Bagis and Bryant highlighted the importance of progress in Turkey-EU negotiation process, and exchanged views on chapters to be opened in near future.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, İngiltere’nin AB İşlerinden Sorumlu Bakanı Chris Bryant ile telefon görüşmesi yaptı. Türkiye’nin AB üyelik müzakerelerinin ilerlemesinin önemi üzerinde durulan görüşmede, yakın gelecekte açılabilecek müzakere fasılları konusunda görüş alışverişinde bulunuldu.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, in the message he delivered for Teachers’ Day, stated that their walk towards the aim of reaching the modern civilization which had been started by Great Ataturk with the principle of “real guide in life is science” continued with the steps taken for EU accession today. Bagis indicated that the greatest driving force on the way to EU membership was that of teachers.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, Öğretmenler Günü nedeniyle yayımladığı mesajda, “Büyük Atatürk’ün ‘Hayatta en hakiki mürşit ilimdir’ ilkesiyle başlattığı çağdaş medeniyetler seviyesine ulaşma yürüyüşünü günümüzde Avrupa Birliği’ne üyelik yolunda attığımız adımlarla devam ettiriyoruz” diyerek, AB yolundaki en büyük itici güçlerinin öğretmenler olduğunu bildirdi.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis participated in the certificate ceremony of 2008-2009 academic year Jean Monnet scholarship programme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bagis said: “Turkey has become a wealthier, more democratic, liberal and transparent country and the EU process has great contributions to what Turkey has become.”

Bağış, Cer Atelyeleri’nde düzenlenen törende yaptığı konuşmada, Türkiye’nin bugün çok daha demokratik, müreffeh, özgür ve şeffaf bir ülke haline geldiğini, AB sürecinin bunda çok büyük katkısı olduğunu söyledi.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis submitted the budget of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs to the Plan and Budget Commission. In his presentation Bagis noted that the government made considerable progress towards full membership also in 2009 by virtue of decisive, persistent and planned steps.

Indicating that as the Secretariat General for EU Affairs they aimed to continue current work within the framework of a new and updated strategy in the upcoming period, Bagis stated that the new strategy was laid on 4 pillars.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, Avrupa Birliği Genel Sekreterliği bütçesini Plan ve Bütçe Komisyonu’na sundu. Bağış, sunumunda hükümetin 2009 yılında da tam üyelik konusunda kararlı, ısrarlı ve planlı hamlelerle ciddi ilerlemeler kaydettiğini söyledi.

AB Genel Sekreterliği olarak önümüzdeki dönemde çalışmaları yeni ve güncel bir strateji çerçevesinde devam ettirmeyi hedeflediklerini kaydeden Bağış, yeni stratejinin 4 platform üzerinde kurulu olduğunu söyledi.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis met with Martti Ahtisaari, the former Finnish President and the head of the Independent Commission on Turkey, and other commission members.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, Bağımsız Türkiye Komisyonu Başkanı eski Finlandiya Cumhurbaşkanı Martti Ahtisaari ve komisyon üyeleriyle bir araya geldi.

Related to the appointment of the Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy to the Presidency of the EU Council and the British Baroness Catherine Ashton to the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: “I believe that the new president and the high representative will appreciate Turkey’s determination and its contributions to the EU and therefore they will pave the way for Turkey’s full membership process which will be for the benefit of both Turkey and the EU.”

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, Belçika Başbakanı Herman Van Rompuy’un AB Konseyi Başkanlığına, İngiliz Barones Catherine Ashton’un da AB Dış İlişkiler ve Güvenlik Yüksek Temsilciliğine getirilmesine ilişkin olarak, “İnanıyorum ki, yeni başkan ve yüksek temsilci Türkiye’nin kararlılığını ve AB’ye yapacağı katkıları takdir ederek, hem ülkemiz hem AB için kazanç sağlayacak, Türkiye’nin tam üyelik sürecini ilerletecektir” dedi.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis received Mark Parris, US Deputy Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy. In his speech at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs, Bagis said that Parris made important contributions to Turkish-US relations and that he carried out significant activities for Turkey.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, ABD’nin Avrasya Enerji Özel Temsilcisi Yardımcısı Mark Parris’i kabul etti. AB Genel Sekreterliği’ndeki görüşmede yaptığı açıklamada, Parris’in Türkiye-ABD ilişkilerine çeşitli katkıları olduğunu ifade eden Bağış, Parris’in Türkiye için önemli çalışmalarda bulunduğunu kaydetti.

Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, separately met Dutch Ambassador to Turkey Jan-Paul Dirkse and British Ambassador to Turkey David Reddaway upon their taking office.

Devlet Bakanı ve Başmüzakereci Egemen Bağış, görevlerine yeni başlayan Hollanda ve İngiltere’nin Ankara Büyükelçileri Jan-Paul Dirkse ve David Reddaway ile ayrı ayrı görüştü.

Attending the Van Provincial Congress of AK Party, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis also participated in a meeting held at the 17th District Office of General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works and met with the representatives of the local newspapers. Bagis evaluated the meetings and the agenda.

Stating that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a historic speech in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Bagis said:

Bölge Müdürlüğü’nde düzenlenen bir toplantıya daha katılan ve 2 Nisan Polis Evi’nde, yerel gazete temsilcileri ile bir araya gelen Bağış, katıldığı toplantılara ve gündeme ilişkin değerlendirmelerde bulundu.

Başbakan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’ın Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi’nde tarihi bir konuşma yaptığını ifade eden Bağış, şunları kaydetti:
