THE BOGUS ARMENIAN GENOCIDE: A CASE OF SELECTIVE MEMORY

    Dear Editor,

So this is what Journalism Department of Moscow State University produces:  cockeyed look at world events to promote Russian interests at all costs.  Here is a writer who will shamelessly complain about selective memory while “practicing” it.

Did you read any lines about Azeris killed by Armenians above?

Did you see any remorse about Khodjaly exterminations of Azeris (genocide?) by Armenian thugs using Russian advisors and weapons?

Any word about the mass killings of Azeris in Karabagh by Armenian soldiers and paramilitaries under the command of Russian “advisors”  using Russian tanks?

Azeris were killed by Armenians toting Russian Mosins in 1893 and Russian Kalashnikovs in 1993?  Both under the leadership of Russian “advisors”.  What has changed in the hundred years, other than the model of the murder weapon?

How about Armenian aggression in the seven rayons (provinces) surrounding Karabagh?  Why is he silent about that?  Isn’t that pure aggression and persecution?

Most dramatic of all, perhaps, is the embarrassing silence of the Russian writer (and I use the term loosely) about the million or so Azeri refugees bracing, made homeless by the Armenian thugs toting Russian rifles, bracing for the 18th scorching summer after 17th freezing winter endured in leaky tents with little food or medicine.  Is this how a Russian “journalist” sees events?  Through the prism of selective memory?

Just like those biased promoters of a bogus genocide who will…

    a) remember Morgenthau’s falsified reports but not Bristol’s or Hubbard’s eyewitness reports;

    b) remember the long-discredited lie of 1.5 million dead Armenians, but not the Paris Peace Conference report dated 29 March 1919 declaring the number “…more than 200,000…” from which the current lie had originated;

    c)  remember the Armenian dead (about 200,00 according to Paris Peace Conference of 1919) but not more than 524,000 Muslim, mostly Turkish dead;

    d) remember 24 April as the start of a fake genocide, but not the fact that 24 April was nothing more than the Ottoman Guantanamo when the known Armenian terrorists, insurgents, and spies and their suspected accomplices, were arrested for questioning, some of whom were later released;

    e) remember Turkish retaliations but not the Armenian revolts that started them, the biggest one of all being the Van rebellion of April 1915 which was the 9/11 of the Ottoman Empire when Armenian killed more than 40,000 of thei Muslim neighbors and turned the city over to the invading Russian armies;

    f)  remember Dink, but not Arikan, and 70 other the Armenians killed since 1973;

    g)  remember Armenia Tereset (temporary resettlement of 1915) but not the facts that Armenians backstabbed their own country at a time when the motherland was under brutal foreign invasion in the West (Dardanelles by the French, and Anzacs, in the East (by Russians and Armenians), in the South (by the British in Sinai, Palestine, and Mesopotamia);

    h)  remember Armenians who were resettled because of their treasonous activities and revolts but not the Crimean Tatars (Turks) who were deported in cattle wagons to Kazakhstan, or Meshketian Turks to Uzbekiastan, or Koreans or Ukranians or Chechens or tens of millions of others  to  distant deserts and barren plains of Central Asia and icy regios of Siberia, who met worse tragic end, if such a thing is possible,  at the hands of their brutal Russian handlers… and many more (too long to list here)

    i)  remember to quote the Armenian commentator Andronik today but not the Armenian terrorist Andranik of last century who ruthlessly murdered many non-combatant, unarmed Muslims, mostly Turks, after torturing them in unspeakable manners;  or those other Armenian terrorists like Dro, Aram, and thousands of others who were trained and supported by the Russians all along the way;

Russians are the last people on earth to talk about selective memory or persecution of defenseless ethnic people.

THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE: A CASE OF SELECTIVE MEMORY

THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE: A CASE OF SELECTIVE MEMORY

    Dmitry Babich

    RIA Novosti
    15:44 09/03/2010
    Moscow

A resolution on the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, passed by the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Relations, has raised a real storm in international diplomacy.

Feverish diplomatic activity and apparent hesitations of the U.S. administration are a clear sign that Turkey’s foreign policy influence has grown.

The committee’s resolution is non-binding and it is not clear if it will be placed before the whole house, but Turkey has already recalled its ambassador to Ankara for consultations, while U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to The New York Times, has asked the Congress not to take up this delicate matter now.

When, in 1915, 1.5 million Armenians “disappeared” as a result of the action undertaken by the Young Turks’ government, Turkey and Armenia froze all contacts with each other. It was only last year that signs

of thawing first became manifest, and in the fall of 2009 the sides agreed to establish diplomatic relations. This was viewed as a success for the Turkish leadership, both the prime minister and the president.

Will now a final “thaw” be postponed again?

That is not likely, although Turkish politicians are certain to take advantage of the situation to improve their standing.

It is very likely that the current scandal will only boost the prestige of Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Not so long ago, he was the first politician in Turkish history to challenge the

military, saying he uncovered a military plot initially scheduled for 2003. Before that, Erdogan made out a successful case for the Palestinians as Muslim brothers, harshly criticizing Israel for its Gaza Strip operation. During the U.S. Iraqi campaign, Turkey never allowed American troops to pass through its territory, forcing Washington to invade Iraq only from the south.

Now the ambiguous position the U.S. has maintained for years on the Armenian genocide, which helped Washington to draw Turkey into NATO, is beginning to backfire against U.S. interests. This is a good

lesson for all, and it is not limited to the events of 1915. There are other examples. The Western mass media are still keeping silent about anti-Armenian violence in Baku in 1989-1990. Most reports mention only that Soviet troops were introduced into the city.

The reason for such selective memory in American and West European media is understandable: it is simple to place the blame on Moscow, forgetting all about previous events. At that moment, the troops

sent by Moscow saved the lives of thousands of Armenians and other “Russian speakers” in Baku. Even many Russian media find the subject of the violence in Baku unpopular and almost forbidden. Some say this could lose Russia advertising contracts and lead to conflicts with influential people.

“I do not know what has to be done to get the mass media throughout the world to highlight those events,” says political analyst Andronik Migranyan, a member of Russia’s Public Chamber. “Will Armenia itself

have to carry out PR campaigns to make things change?”

The point is that the events of 1915 and those of the 1980s in Armenia and Azerbaijan do not concern only Armenians; they concern everyone.

The anti-Armenian violence in Baku came after an inhumane expulsion of Azerbaijanians from Nagorny Karabakh, followed by the Khodzhala tragedy that shocked the world. People must remember everything,

because destruction of human life cannot be forgotten or remembered selectively. Otherwise, diplomatic embarrassments like the present U.S.-Turkish spat may become regular.

TWO NEW STUDIES PUBLISHED ON THE TURKISH ARMENIAN CONFLICT

    Study One:

The Armenians and Ottoman Military Policy, 1915
    Edward J. Erickson
    War in History 2008 15 (2) 141–167 (27 pages)
    10.1177/0968344507087001 © 2008 SAGE Publications

    First page, first paragraph:

“ Mainstream western scholarship maintains that the Armenian insurrection of
1915 was never an actual threat to the security of the Ottoman state in the First World War and that the relocation of the Armenians of eastern Anatolia was unnecessary. In truth, no study of the Armenian insurrection and its effect on Ottoman military policy has ever been conducted. This article examines the Ottoman army’s lines of communications architecture and logistics posture in eastern Anatolia in 1915. Armenian threats to the logistics and security of the
Ottoman armies in Caucasia and Palestine are overlaid on this system. Evolving and escalatory Ottoman military policies are then explained in terms of threat assessments and contemporary counter-insurgency strategy. The article seeks to inform the reader why the Ottomans reacted so vigorously and violently to the events of the spring of 1915 “

    Last page, last paragraph:

“ Nothing can justify the massacres of the Armenians nor can a case be made that the entire Armenian population of the six Anatolian provinces was an active and hostile threat to Ottoman national security. However, a case can be made that the Ottomans judged the Armenians to be a great threat to the 3rd and 4th Armies and that genuine intelligence and security concerns drove that decision. It may also be stated that the Ottoman reaction was escalatory and responsive rather than premeditated and pre-planned. In this context the
Ottoman relocation decision becomes more understandable as a military solution to a military problem. While political and ideological imperatives perhaps drove the decision equally, if not harder, these do not negate the fact that the Armenians were a great military danger.”

Captain Larkin and the Turks: The Strategic Impact of the Operations of HMS Doris in Early 1915
    Edward J. Erickson
Middle Eastern Studies, Vol. 46, No. 1, 151–162, January 2010

    Page 1, first paragraph:

“ As the Ottoman Empire entered the First World War in November 1914 there were a
number of troubling events involving Armenians that served to convince the Turks
of impending Armenian insurgency. It is well known that in the Caucasus, numbers
of Armenian men fled to join the Czar’s armies against the Ottoman Empire and
guerrilla warfare between Armenian bands and the Turks broke out on the frontier
near the Black Sea. It is less well known that the Ottomans were also extremely
concerned about Armenian activities in the area of Alexandretta (the modern
Turkish port of Iskenderun) particularly around Dörtyol, a tiny railway stop and
village close by the Mediterranean Sea. This concern was mainly the result of the
operations of the HMS Doris in December 1914 and January 1915. This article uses
British, German, and Turkish archival sources to focus on the ship’s operations in
the vicinity of Dörtyol and on the strategic affect these had on Ottoman perceptions
of threats to the empire and on actual Ottoman responses. The Doris figures
prominently in two critical strategic outcomes – the relocation of the Armenians in
1915 and in the activation of three Ottoman army divisions for coastal defence and
    internal security.”

    Last page, last paragraph:

“ Arguably, in the end, Larkin’s missions were a failure as the Ottoman lines of
communication were never seriously disrupted nor did the prospective British
amphibious invasion at Alexandretta ever take place. Nevertheless, Captain Frank
Larkin’s voyages in command of HMS Doris in the winter of 1914–15 had an effect
out of all proportion to their duration and scale. Larkin’s activities were so actively
consistent and aggressive that the Ottomans came to believe that a British
amphibious invasion was being coordinated with and supported by an imminent
Armenian insurrection in the vicinity of Do¨ rtyol. Unintentionally, Larkin played a
key role in driving the Turks to some very poor decisions. It is problematic to
imagine that had Larkin actually been tasked to conduct deception operations or
diversionary activities that his raiding would have been nearly as convincing as what
he actually accomplished. In any case, there is no question that Larkin and HMS
Doris helped convince the Turks to make strategic decisions that diverted substantial
valuable and scarce resources away from the war effort.”

  • TURNING POINT IN TURKISH AMERICAN PUBLIC ADVOCACY

TURNING POINT IN TURKISH AMERICAN PUBLIC ADVOCACY

    ATAA’s Statement on H.Res. 252

Dear Turkish Americans and Friends of Türkiye:

House Resolution 252 passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) by a vote of 23-22 after HFAC Chairman Howard Berman extended the voting period thrice and forced reluctant legislators to show up and vote in favor of the resolution.

The passage of H.Res. 252 represented ethnic politics at its worst, and made a mockery of the U.S. legislative, judicial and foreign policy processes. Indeed, United States foreign policy regarding Turkey, Armenia and the broader region was hijacked by ultra-nationalist Armenian politics in a few Congressional districts.

The recalling of Turkish Ambassador Namık Tan was an expression of Turkey’s disappointment in what now appears to be a contradiction in the United States’ position on Turkish-Armenian rapprochement. It was also an expression in defense of the dignity of the Turkish people to whom the U.S. now appears to have denied fair and just treatment by this prejudicial resolution plagued with blatantly libelous falsifications.

At this stage it is difficult to expect the Turkish people to support the ratification of the Turkey – Armenia protocols, as the people’s interest now turns to whether U.S. President Obama will attempt to rehabilitate U.S. credibility in Turkey and among Turkish Americans, or permit further deterioration in a Proclamation on April 24. Furthermore, an alleged agreement between the White House and HFAC not to bring H.Res. 252 to a floor vote appears empty, if not also deceptive, as confidence in the ability of the Resolution to actually pass Congress is meager.

House Resolution 252 signals a turning point in Turkish American public advocacy. The 23-22 vote reflects the growing efficacy of the Turkish American public advocacy network, including its infrastructure, technical abilities, critical mass, cooperation, solidarity, and resolve. In 2007, H.Res. 106 passed the HFAC 27-21, after the late Congressman Tom Lantos voted in favor of the motion, and was followed by three standby members. In 2005, H.Res. 316 and 195 passed overwhelmingly 42-7 and 35-11, respectively. This is just the beginning, as an awakening Turkish American community and a resurging Turkish Republic take command of their destiny for “Peace at Home, Peace in the World.”

I thank the Turkish American community, particularly YOU – the individual Turkish American and friend of Türkiye — for your tremendous efforts. In solidarity within diversity, over 5000 letters were submitted through the ATAA-FTAA-TCA campaign. ATAA visited most of the HFAC members at least once at the local level and three times on Capitol Hill. On March 3, 2010, the ATAA and FTAA joined in solidarity on Capitol Hill, as we visited each HFAC member one final time.

I also thank the Azerbaijani, Crimean, Turkmen, Turcoman, Uzbek, Kazakh, Kirghiz, and Uighur American communities for their support. The Azerbaijan Society of America in New York – PaxTurcica in Los Angeles – USAN in Washington, DC supported the ATAA-FTAA-TCA letter campaign and Congressional visits. In addition, the Azerbaijanian American Cultural Alliance traveled from Texas to show its support at the March 4 HFAC Hearing.

I thank the Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) for their invaluable support and guidance.

Finally, I thank the ATAA Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, and ATAA’s dedicated staff for their excellence in representing the Turkish American community in opposition to H.Res. 252 and in support of U.S.-Turkish relations. They have done this in parallel with four major ATAA projects, including Census 2010, SayTurk, Turkish American Broad Advocacy Network (TABAN) grassroots program, Turkish Student Outreach, and www.MediaWatchNow.com.

Our task is not finished, though. In fact, it might be said that it is just starting now. First, we should build on this momentum to maintain our contact with our representatives to educate them on matters concerning Turkey USA relations, so that such “ill-informed” resolutions will not be supported in Congress. We should establish lasting bonds of friendship for future. Next, we should revive, reinvigorate, and grow our component organizations to reach out and touch every Turkish American in 50 states, to deter future misguided attacks on our heritage.

Together we can do it and ATAA is here for you.

  • GENOCIDE CHARGES DO NOT MAKE SENSE

GENOCIDE CHARGES DO NOT MAKE SENSE

To: Los Angeles Times, Editorial Board

Re: “ Making sense of genocide “
    , Los Angeles Times, 8 March 2010; a rebuttal.

GENOCIDE CHARGES DO NOT MAKE SENSE

I will not get into the argument of whether it is good or bad for American interests today to pass judgment on others’ history of 100 years ago and a half world away when we have not faced our own history about slavery, extermination (genocide?) of native Americans, extermination (genocide?) of civilians of Nagasaki and Hiroshima or Dresden, racist treatment of Asians, Latinos, and many other groups, and more.

After all, if the 23 U.S. Congressmen and women in the House Foreign Affairs Committee did not care about the US interests when they irresponsibly voted yes to pass a bogus genocide resolution on March 4, 2010, despite last minute discouragements and warnings from Secretary Clinton, why should I, a humble individual American citizen?

“ Turkey needs to come to grips with its bloody past so it can move forward in its relations with Armenia and the U.S.” pontificates the high and mighty editorial board of Los Angeles times but makes no attempt to produce or mention any court verdict to support its judgment of genocide. It does not, because it cannot. It cannot because there is not any.

All this genocide talk, therefore, is little more than a racist and dishonest version of history rammed down the throats of unsuspecting public, perhaps with the best of intentions, but then again, perhaps not. It is like a crusade of sorts by some holier-than-thou opinion thugs, some big media bullies, and their fellow Turk-haters in media, academia, and politics. They may rule the waves in shaping public opinion but are powerless to change the truth about the past.

The plain truth is the Ottoman-Armenians took up arms against their own government and staged not just one, but many bloody revolts between 1877 and 1915. The last one, The Van Revolt on April 1915, broke the camel’s back. That was the 9/11 for the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian thugs, paramilitaries, and other irregulars, armed to the teeth, first killed up to 40,000 Muslims in Van then turned over the city to the invading Russian armies. How big is that?

Consider this: The United States went to war across the oceans, in a place halfway across the world called Afghanistan, against a group of nameless, faceless terrorists for much, much less than that… in the 21st Century. Why is it wrong for the Ottoman Empire to do the same to its own terrorists with well known names and faces… in the 20th Century?

Besides, the latter did not bomb to smithereens all cities in the regions involved (Van, Mush, Bitlis, and others) killing many civilians and chalked it off casually to “collateral damage” like the U.S. did in Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead, the Ottoman Empire moved the treasonous elements to deny them their logistic support in their community, which unfortunately, openly and widely supported such violence against their own neighbors, government, and state, at a time of war of survival and brutal foreign invasions, no less.

This wartime measure, taken as a homeland security action in the face of a series of horrific rebellions by Armenians, was TERESET— short for temporary resettlement of 1915—which is now deliberately misrepresented as genocide by Armenian falsifiers and their fellow Turk haters. Genocide is a political claim, unproven by any competent tribunal, unsubstantiated by untainted historical evidence, and unjustified by moral values .

Some 70 American historians and researchers, world renown experts like Bernard Lewis of Princeton, Stanford Shaw of UCLA, Mango of London, and many others among them, signed a public statement published in the New York Times and Washington Post on May 19, 1985, trying to knock some sense into the myopic and selfish politicians promoting a bogus genocide then, reminding that politicians make history and historians write it. For this process to work, they said, archives must be opened, unmolested research allowed, peer review and debate encouraged, and a civilized atmosphere to explore the controversy established. Current research, they argued, pointed to the fact that it was a “…inter communal warfare fought by Christian and Muslim irregulars…” , not genocide. “We do not wish to minimize the Armenian suffering,” they added, “but we are also cognizant that it cannot be viewed as separate from the Muslims suffering” in the same era and area and due to same wartime conditions.

Editorials boards, first starting at the Boston Globe in 2003, then spreading into the New York Times and finally to the Los Angeles Times, under intense Armenian pressure and intimidation, and armed with no court verdict and in total disregard for the “six T’s of the Turkish Armenian conflict”, rule that the controversy shall be labeled genocide. Thus, Armenian propaganda, agitation, terror, raids, feuds, attacks, revolts, treason, territorial demands, and Turkish deaths at the hands of Armenia insurgents, and more, in pretty much in that order from 1877 to 1915 and beyond, all swept under the rug to sanitize their genocide claim so that it would stick. I call this ethocide, extermination of ethics via malicious mass deception by individuals or groups for political, economical, social, and other gain.

Ethocidal coverage of the Turkish Armenian conflict have reached gargantuan dimensions as Armenian propaganda obliterated critical thinking, replaced scholarship with friendship, and facts with myths. Even the records of the U.S. Congress are not immune to the falsification attempts of the Armenians lobby: General Hubbard report of 1920 mentions refined Armenian brutalities victimizing Muslims, not race extermination of Armenians as touted. Furthermore, House Resolution 192 dated 22 April 1922 certifies and celebrates that the there are 1,414,000 Armenian alive as of 31 December 1921, making a genocide technically impossible and refuting such claims until eternity. Do you think honest truth seekers should be given a chance to learn the other side of the story based on rock solid evidence such as these? The truth is not in millions of propaganda documents but in those “tidbits” of information hidden in a few documents that the genocide promoters overlook.

That said, can the Los Angeles Times editorial board answer one simple question, as a service to its unsuspecting readers of nothing else, since the former knows everything there is to know about the “alleged” genocide”:

How many Muslims, mostly Turks, were killed by the Armenians during WWI and how many of those even before 24 April 1915?

I wish I could see the faces in the editorial board now—deer in headlights— frantically calling each other for the answer. The know-it-all, high-and-mighty opinion-makers are blindsided by this simplest of the question which readily exposes how little the editors really know (or care) about the other side of the story … which they continue to censor as you read these lines.

    Sincerely,

Pastermadjian, formerly a terrorist involved in the raiding of the Ottoman Bank in Istanbul in 1896; returned to Turkey in 1908 after declaration of the second Constitution; got elected as Congressman from Erzurum; then revolted and became one of the top Revolution leaders; escaped to USA after Armenia was Sovietized; wrote this book as a proud record of braveries (and confessing to Armenian war crimes and hate crimes in the process); later became the USA ambassador for the Armenian Republic which was founded as a protectorate of The Ottoman Empire in early 1919. Court resolved that 1987 resolution is a political declaration that can change in time, cannot therefore, have binding legal consequences for other institutions. For details see:

TURKEY CONDEMNS THE DEFAMATORY MOVE AND RECALLS ITS AMBASSADOR

Passage of the Turkey-Armenia protocols in the Turkish parliament now definitely thrown into disarray.

Rapprochement endangered by a self-serving move by irresponsible politicians designed only to appease a few greedy, arrogant, and deceptive Armenian extremists.

Turkey-USA relations and American interests in Iraq and Afghanistan may ALSO be negatively impacted.

    4 March 2010 – Los Angeles, California :

The House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) voted 23-22 to narrowly accept the H. Res. 252, an incredibly dishonest and racist resolution which seems to be penned by the Armenian lobby but known to be rammed through the political process via irresponsible politicians whose survival depend on the Armenian support. Chairman Berman seemed determined to pass the resolution as he extended voting time stretching the rules and even strong armed wandering members to come in and vote. As soon as the Yes votes surpassed the No votes by one, Berman called the passage and ended the voting.

Always the strongest lobby in Washington DC, the administration, was conspicuously absent this year in opposing the ill-informed, ill-advised non-binding resolution. Obama administration, unlike his predecessors, did not act until the very end and it was too little to late when Hillary Clinton finally made that call to Berman urging defeat of the resolution—perhaps afterthought triggered by Turkish President Gul’s phone call to Obama yesterday.

Also absent in opposing the racist and dishonest resolution was the Jewish lobby, arguably as a result of Erdogan’s strongly worded criticism of Israeli policies in Lebanon and Gaza.

Given the nonappearance of the above major players this year in the opposing side, it was expected that the deceptive and fraudulent resolution would easily clear the HFA. The race, however, was surprisingly close. So close, in fact, that Berman pulled all his dirty tricks out of the bag to extend the voting time to strong arm a few wandering members of HFAC for a last second victory by only one vote. After seeing that dirty politicking, one is reminded why politicians score at the bottom of public confidence and trust scales.

Here is a case where America’s interests are trampled upon to appease a few loud constituents. Perhaps Berman, Schiff, Pallone and others pushing this racist resolution would care to share now with the rest of us their future response to the grieving families of the next group of US soldiers needlessly coming home body bags because they had to take more treacherous routes during evacuations due to closing of the safe route through Turkey by Turks outraged by the passage of this defamatory and fraudulent resolution.

Berman, Schiff, Pallone and others pushing this racist resolution can be proud of their misdeed now: they falsified history, demonized a friend and an ally, threatened a peace process, and hurt American interests, all in one shot. They deserve a medal: the most loyal servants of the hate-cultivating Armenian lobby. I am sure they will be properly rewarded now. When America has friends in selfish politicians like these, why does America need enemies?

Make no mistake: this is a blow to American interests and those members of the HFAC who voted yes must be held accountable for putting Armenia’s interests over America’s to mindlessly serve a single interest, polarizing, and vindictive ethnic lobby.

Make no mistake also that the passage of this malicious Armenian propaganda, thinly veiled in a political resolution, will prove to be a devastating loss to the arrogant and hateful Armenian diaspora lobby and aggressive, irredentist and boastful Armenia.

This was a determined wait by Turkey, with retaliatory measures standing by, sadly watching the unfortunate defamation efforts by a few misguided members of HFAC unfold. Turkey, whose sons fought shoulder to shoulder and died together with Americans in Korea, Bosnia, Somalia, Kosovo, and elsewhere are demonized by a few irresponsible politicians who play historians with falsified Armenian input. How do you like that? Values like honesty, loyalty, courage, determination, and pride in heritage are very important for Turks and Turkey, but apparently, not so for others.

We, the members of the Turkish American community coast-to-coast, worked very hard to educate our elected officials and defeat the dishonest and racist bill, as those who read this column very well know. Umbrella organizations like ATAA in Washington DC, FTAA in New York, and USTN in Washington DC, as well as charitable educational organizations like Turkish Coalition of America rained down letters, emails, faxes, and phone calls on all members of the HFAC, as well as other members of the Congress and big media. HFAC members, responsible ones, were visited by groups of Turkish Americans urging a No vote.

Turkish government sent a small number of members of Turkish parliament who talked to their counterparts in Washington DC. At the last minute, Turkish president Gul called Obama and Obama administration entered the picture with a phone call from Secretary Hillary Clinton to Chairman Berman urging defeat of the bill. Too little, too late.

The propaganda machine worked against historical facts all the time. Remember the misleading CBS 60 Minutes piece, the falsifications produced and/or broadcast at PBS using Armenian money, the tall tales published in big media and blogosphere, the harassment and intimidation fielded by the unprincipled, deceitful, and unscrupulous Armenian lobby? They all converged to hatch this evil egg…

To show how determined the Turkish Americans were, it suffices to take a look at what TCA alone has been able to achieve and multiply that by many times to arrive at total mobilization. I guess I owe a debt of gratitude to the chauvinistic and fraudulent Armenian lobby, after all, for bringing the Turkish American community together in a manner not achieved before. This might also give a clue to those “hungry chickens dreaming to be in a grain silo” about a few of the magic attributes that allowed Turks to create empire after empire for millennia: resourcefulness, adaptability, and creativity. As the brutal invaders of Turkey and their equally atrocious and treacherous domestic proxies during and after WWI found out in a costly way back in 1915-1922, just when you think Turks are finished, a sure-shot, slam-dunk, victory within plain sight, Turks COME BACK BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER! And where do Turks draw from in these impossible situations to pull a last second victory from the mouth of a lion? Form their inner strength… Want more insight? Hint: study the five thousand years of Turkish history stretching over three continents.

Summary of impacts of H.Res. 252 passage:

    America lost…

    Armenia lost…

    Turkey lost…

But Berman, Schiff, and Pallone definitely won…

  • DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER URGES DEFEAT OF H.RES. 252

DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER URGES DEFEAT OF H.RES. 252

    The Honorable Howard Berman, Chairman

The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen , Ranking Member

    House Foreign Affairs Committee

    Washington DC

    March 2, 2010

Dear Chairman Berman and Ranking Member Ros-Lehtinen:

This week, your Committee will consider H. Res. 252, a non-binding resolution
that seeks to establish our country ‘ s position on a frequently debated historical event that
took place in the Ottoman Empire during World War 1. This legislation, while not legally
binding, will have very real and meaningful consequences internationally. Approval of
this resolution has potential to damage our relationship with an important NATO ally,
Turkey, Equally as concerning, it also threatens to undermine the current rapprochement
    between Turkey and Armenia.

The United States is currently facing extremely difficult times, and we all see and
hear the moving stories from Americans across the country, While we can and should
debate the best ways to defeat extremism and help strengthen our struggling economy, we
certainly should not be considering proposals that will only further damage our country
    both militarily and economically.

Turkey plays an invaluable role in assisting our efforts to combat international
terrorism, In Afghanistan, Turkey has provided hundreds of millions of dollars for
reconstruction efforts and humanitarian aid and operates hospitals and schools that serve
hundreds of thousands of individuals. Turkey also has helped train members of the
Afghan National Police and the National Army, a vital task that will help transfer sole
security responsibilities to the Afghan government.

Economically, Turkey represents billions of dollars and thousands of American
jobs to our country, In recent years the United States has exported more than $10 billion
worth of goods there annually and this number continues to grow, In addition to exports,
Turkish industries continue to grow and develop to the benefit of businesses in the United
States in which they invest. Continuing to collaborate with Turkey economically will not
only help to pull our nation out of recession, but ensure a partnership with a country that
will play an increasingly larger role in the global economy in the years to come.

More broadly, approving this resolution would adversely impact a wider range of
important U.S.-Turkish initiatives, such as promoting regional energy security, and
assisting in the Middle East peace process. So valued is this friendship that President
Obama, during his first bilateral overseas European trip, described our relationship as a
“Model Partnership.” We fear this resolution will place a significant strain on that
partnership and on regional interests more generally.

We also believe that H. Res. 252 will undermine the current rapprochement
between Ankara and Yerevan, and may permanently derail the restoration of diplomatic
ties and normal relations between the two nations. For some time, the United States,
Switzerland, and other members of the international community have actively been
supporting the normalization process between Turkey and Armenia. Those efforts have
produced significant positive movement over the last ten months. Once ratified, these
protocols will establish diplomatic relations, open common borders and foster commerce
between these neighbors. These protocols are presently before both parliaments for
ratification, so this process is at a sensitive stage. It would not serve U.S. interests to take
any action which could jeopardize these positive developments.

A vote on this resolution will do nothing to rectify the tragedies of the past, but it
will most certainly have significant negative consequences on current and future relations
with Turkey. We respectfully, but strongly urge you to reject this measure.

    Sincerely,
