More than four billion dollars a year.

That was the figure that investors in the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange feared was about to evaporate on September 7 when Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Ankara was suspending trade ties between Turkey and Israel, and the predictable response was a sharp drop in share values.

The market recovered most of its losses when officials in Ankara issued a clarification later in the day, indicating that Erdogan’s intention was to freeze only direct defense industry contracts between the governments of the two countries, not put a stop to the entirety of civilian trade.

There appears to be little doubt, however, that the tensions between Israel and Turkey can only hamper economic ties. With Turkey having expelled Israel’s ambassador and all diplomats at the Embassy in Ankara above the second secretary level, Israelis traveling to Istanbul being singled out for harsh security measures, and Ankara hinting that more measures limiting bilateral contacts are in store for the future – Israeli businessmen are unlikely to place Turkey high on their lists of potential sites for trade expansion.

Prior to the explosion of official Turkish rage at Israel following the publication of the Palmer Commission’s report on the Mavi Marmara incident, Israeli-Turkish trade relations had been following a multi-year upward trajectory. The two countries attained $3.5 billion worth of economic interaction in 2010, up from $2.5 billion in 2009. The latest figures indicate that, despite more than a year of negative sentiments towards Israel in the Turkish public following the Mavi Marmara flotilla in May 2010, trade gained forward momentum in the past year: According to data collected by the Turkish Exporters Organization, $2.56 billion of trade took place between the countries in the first seven months of 2011, on track to reach $4.4 billion by the end of the year.

Businessmen from both countries have recognized economic complementarities for two decades and moved to exploit them. The Turkish-Israeli Free Trade Agreement, dating from 1996, only accelerated those ties. According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Israel’s main import items from Turkey are iron-steel products, mineral fuels, mineral oils, copper and copper wares. Turkey’s import items from Israel are in mineral oils, organic and inorganic chemical products and electronic machinery. Cross-border investments are also common. Israel’s Ofer Group has a significant shareholding in the Turkish Petroleum Refineries Corporation, for example, and carpet manufacturer Carmel Carpets has a controlling interest in Turkey’s carpet company Atlas Halı.

Meanwhile, Turkish construction firms have discovered that Israel can be a lucrative market, underscored by the contract signed last year under which Turkey’s Zorlu Holdings is to build four major electric power plants in Israel. And that is before taking into account the immense amount of Israeli tourism to Turkey, totaling 311,600 visitors in 2009. Package tours to Turkey from Tel Aviv were once touted as being cheaper than going to Eilat, but tourism is expected to be the industry that will suffer the greatest contraction as diplomatic relations go frosty.

From the Turkish perspective, cutting trade ties with Israel seems irrational. While the Turkish economy has been growing at a blistering pace of a reported 10 percent a year, the Ankara’s government deficit has ballooned to worrisome 9.5 percent. Its external debt has doubled in the past two years, and the unemployment rate is at 13%.

A period of world economic slowdown would appear to be a particularly inauspicious time to be contemplating restricting economic activity, especially given that Israel is one of the few countries with which Turkey has a trade surplus, with Turkey’s exports to Israel at $2 billion last year while it imported only $1.3 billion from Israel.

It is therefore not terribly surprising that the president of Turkish Exporters Organization, Mehmet Büyükeksi, issued a press statement in early September stating that “we should not mistake business ties for political relations.… These are two completely separate issues. We do not expect trade relations to worsen overnight.”

In parallel, the president of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, Uriel Lynn, warned that a trade crisis with Turkey could cost hundreds of Israeli jobs.

By all indications, the business communities in both countries would prefer to let the political storms blow over their heads, while they quietly continue with business as usual. Whether or not that will be possible is, at this point, entirely in the hands of the decision makers in Ankara.

On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu unveiled part of a recent dialogue between the country’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Barack Obama.

“You are acting as Israel’s attorney,” Erdogan told Obama, Davutoglu said during an address to the prime minister’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP),

The US has served as the closest ally of the Israeli regime, considered as the Middle East’s sole nuclear power, facilitating as well as justifying the majority of its grave violations against Palestinian territories and its neighboring Arab states.

Tacit understanding between Washington and Tel Aviv has helped the latter maintain a policy of ‘nuclear ambiguity’ under which it has neither confirmed nor denied having nuclear weapons.

Former US President Jimmy Carter has attested to the existence of the arsenal, which he has said, includes between 200 to 300 warheads.

    Oct 14, 2011

ISTANBUL // The Turkish government helped secure the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit despite political tensions with Israel, officials from both countries said.

But analysts warned yesterday that it was too early to tell whether Turkey’s involvement in freeing the soldier could lead to improved ties with Israel.

“Whether it was transmitting information about Gilad Shalit’s health or whether it was taking part directly or indirectly in continuing negotiations, we were following those issues closely and made a contribution up until very recently,” Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish foreign minister, said in remarks posted on his ministry’s website yesterday.

While describing Turkey’s efforts to reach a deal between Israel and Hamas on the swap of Mr Shalit for 1,027 Palestinian detainees, Mr Davutoglu was careful to point out that Egypt deserved most of the praise.

“First and foremost, I congratulate our friend and brother Egypt for their contribution,” Mr Davutoglu said. He also confirmed that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister and a harsh critic of Israel, was personally involved in the Shalit case.

In Israel, president Shimon Peres said he was surprised by Mr Erdogan’s involvement.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the Turkish government’s stand,” Mr Peres said, according to Israeli media reports. He said he was told that Mr Erdogan personally played an important role in the process. “They put everything aside and favoured the humanitarian side over politics,” Mr Peres said.

Relations between former partners Turkey and Israel have been in crisis since the death of nine Turkish activists during an attack by Israeli soldiers on a Turkish ship carrying aid for the Gaza Strip in May last year. Turkey has called for an apology and compensation for the families of the victims, but Israel has rejected the demands. Last month, Ankara expelled the Israeli ambassador and downgraded political and military ties with Israel.

Mr Erdogan insists that his tough position was directed only against the present Israeli government and not against the Israeli people. According to news reports, Mr Erdogan reportedly promised to get involved personally after receiving a letter from Mr Shalit’s father, Noam Shalit.

Turkey raised eyebrows in Israel, Europe and the US when it invited a delegation of Hamas to Ankara shortly after the election victory of the hardline Palestinian group in 2006. In recent weeks, Mr Erdogan has spoken of his wish to visit the Gaza Strip, which is run by Hamas.

Mehmet Sahin, a political scientist at Ankara’s Gazi University and Israel analyst at the Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies, a think tank in the Turkish capital, said Turkey’s involvement in the Shalit case could be seen as a “confidence-building step”.

“But the question is what Israel’s response will be,” Professor Sahin said in a telephone interview yesterday. He said Turkey would stick to its demands of an apology and compensation as a precondition to normalise relations.

While there were Israeli politicians like Mr Peres who were in favour of repairing ties with Turkey, hardliners such as the foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman were adamantly opposed to an apology, Prof Sahin said.

He noted that Israel had offered an apology to Egypt for the death of six members of the Egyptian security forces during an Israeli operation in August.

A Turkish foreign ministry source also underlined that the ball was in Israel’s court. In response to a question about a possible improvement of Turkish-Israeli ties because of the Shalit case, the source replied: “You have to ask this to the Israeli side.”

Turkey seeks Red Notice in flotilla attack

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Oct. 13 (UPI) — A Turkey prosecutor is seeking a Red Notice for 174 Israelis involved in a 2010 flotilla raid that killed nine activists on a Turkish aid ship, a report says.

Today’s Zaman said the Bugun daily reported Thursday Istanbul Public Prosecutor Mehmet Akif Ekinci, who is investigating the May 2010 flotilla attack, had reportedly written to the Turkish Justice Ministry requesting Interpol Red Notices for the Israeli soldiers and commanders.

The Bugun report also said the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office had written to Israeli authorities seeking names and home addresses of military and government officials who gave orders to attack the ship and those who carried out the raid on the ship, which was carrying humanitarian aid.

After Israel refused to provide the information, the prosecutor requested help from the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, which obtained the identities of the Israelis through Facebook, Bugun said.

Israeli would not confirm the identities, prompting the prosecutor to go to the Justice Ministry, Bugun said.

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office had earlier denied Ekinci asked the NIO to identify the Israelis involved in the attack and said the list of names came from the Humanitarian Aid Foundation, the Turkish charity that owns the ship.

The ship, the Mavi Marmara, was part of an international humanitarian aid flotilla that tried to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

Turkey said it would not recognize the blockade’s legitimacy and called on Israel to apologize for the raid and pay compensation for the nine people who were killed — eight Turkish nationals and a Turkish-American. Relations between the countries have been tense since then, and Turkey downgraded diplomatic ties with Israel and suspended all military agreements.

  • Obama gives CIA controlled Pentagon order to start FED’s WWIII

Obama gives CIA controlled Pentagon order to start FED’s WWIII

Cocked PistolRussia and China have both vetoed a UN Resolution put forward by the United States to use military force against Syria.  Both Russia and China know that the uprising in Syria was orchestrated by the United States using CIA mercenaries.  Russia and China have always claimed that the United States was involved and the United States was fabricating evidence against Syria in order to get a UN Resolution to use military force against Syria.  Today one such fabrication was uncovered when a young woman who the United States government claimed was mutilated and murdered appeared on Syrian TV and identified herself as Zainab Alhusni.  The U.S. government’s false report of mutilation and murder stirred outrage and condemnation across the world.

Today it has been learned that BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA has ordered the CIA controlled Pentagon (Obama appointed former CIA director Leon Panetta as Defense Secretary in May) to ready troops for military strikes against Syria despite the UN Security Council vetoing any military action against Syria.  Obama for the second time this year has unilaterally committed US forces to a war that Congress has not authorized.  Why is Obama starting wars without Congressional approval?  British subject BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA was illegally put in office by the European bankers in order to cause the economic collapse of the United States.  The United States is the last obstacle to enslaving the World under a New World Order.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA has successfully bankrupted the United States so the next step to bring about a New World Order is to start WWIII.  Attacking Syria will start WWIII.   Syrian President Bashar Assad on Tuesday threatened to set fire to the Middle East, and especially Israel, if NATO (the United States’ surrogate military force) attacks Syria.  Assad said: “If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv.” According to the Fars news agency, the Syrian president stressed that Damascus will also call on Hezbollah in Lebanon to launch a fierce rocket and missile attack on Israel, such that Israeli intelligence could never imagine. “All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the US warships in the Persian Gulf and the US and European interests will be targeted simultaneously,” Assad said.

Israel will strike back with a  massive nuclear retaliation against “enemy” nations should its existence as a Jewish state be jeopardized through military attack. Israeli leaders created the “Samson Option” in the mid-1960s, inspired by the very first suicide bomber named Samson, who destroyed a Philistine temple, killing himself and thousands of Philistines.

In 1977, after a right-wing coalition under Menachen Begin took power, the Israelis began to use the Samson Option not just to deter attack but to allow Israel to “redraw the political map of the Middle East” by expanding hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers into the West Bank and Gaza.

To dissuade the Soviet Union from interfering with its plans, Prime Minister Begin immediately “gave orders to target Soviet cities” for nuclear attack. Its American spy Jonathan Pollard was caught stealing such nuclear targeting information from the U.S. military in 1985.

Today, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has put Israel on nuclear alert and is now arming missiles with nuclear weapons.  Netanyahu knows that BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA is preparing U.S. forces to attack Syria with or without UN or Congressional approval.   Netanyahu knows the British agent BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA intends on launching an unprovoked attack against Syria because doing so will spark a nuclear war.

The United States is already at DEFCON 1 “COCKED PISTOL” readiness status.  DEFCON 1 means nuclear war is imminent.  The United States was put on DEFCON 1 readiness status on September 27, 2011, by BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA – read PRESS Core article titled “Obama and Globalists converging on Denver Deep Underground Military Base for September 27, 2011“.  On September 27, 2011 Obama ordered the United States military, the DHS and FEMA to make ready for a imminent nuclear war.

    8) Lehman Brothers – New York

    9) Goldman Sachs – New York and

    10) The Rockefeller Family – New York) have decided that the time is now to start WWIII.

A DOD / DHS / FEMA Continuity of Operations Plan drill at one of the United States most secure Deep Underground Military Bases located beneath the Denver International Airport was scheduled for September 27, 2011 as a diversion – to deceive the American people.  The drill was the cover story to hide the fact that BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA and the United States shadow government (the Federal Reserve bankers) has ordered the start of WWIII.  DEFCON 1 means Obama intends on starting a nuclear war.

Maryland-based biotechnology firm Emergent BioSolutions on Monday was awarded a $1.25 billion contract to provide the U.S. government with 44.75 million doses of an anthrax vaccine.

The American people do not realize just how lucky they were on September 11, 2001. 9/11 was a cowardly act of treason by George W Bush and Dick Cheney which resulted in 2,974 fatalities, but if their attack failed the casualties could have been much higher – the entire city of New York could have been lost.

FEMA had deployed to New York City on September 10 to set up a command post at Pier 29, in preparation for a biowarfare exercise scheduled for September 12, 2001. Source http://www.nyc.gov/html/oem/html/news/02_05_22_tripod.shtml

Rudolph Giuliani let the details of BIOWARFARE EXERCISE TRIPOD II slip in his testimony to the 9/11 Commission. In his testimony, Giuliani testified that FEMA arrived in New York on September 10th to set up a command post located at Pier 29 under the auspices of a ‘biowarfare exercise scheduled for September 12. This explains why Tom Kenney of FEMA’s National Urban Search and Rescue Team, told Dan Rather of CBS News that FEMA had arrived in New York on the night of September 10th. This was originally dismissed as a slip of the tongue. Giuliani was to use this post as a command post on 9/11 after he evacuated WTC Building 7. Giuliani knew when to leave WTC 7 because he got advanced warning that the Trade Towers were about to collapse. “We were operating out of there when we were told that the World Trade Center was gonna collapse,” Rudolph Giuliani told Peter Jennings of ABC News.

I wrote about this false flag attack against the United States by the United States’ own government back in Dec 2008 when PRESS Core was called nbGazette. The article was titled “If the attacks of September 11, 2001 failed George W Bush and Dick Cheney had a backup terrorist attack called Tripod II”

Obama is planning another false flag attack against the United States and anthrax is once again a part of the United States government’s plan to mass murder thousands of American citizens if the CIA is unsuccessful in detonating a nuke on U.S. soil.
