    SWEDEN and PKK/YPG Terrorist Organization

Sweden harshly reacted to Turkey’s Operation Olive Branch which targeted the terrorist orga- nization in 2018. In this context, former Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström canceled an official visit to Turkey.

PKK/YPG supporters can freely conduct their activities and carry out terrorist propaganda in Sweden without encountering any restrictions. PKK/YPG sympathizers wave PKK/YPG flags ex- plicitly without any intervention by local security forces. Moreover, PKK/YPG members can even meet the country’s Foreign Minister.

The Swedish government provide massive state of the art technology arms to the terrorist group. These weapons are used in terrorist attacks against Turkish security forces.

Sweden, refusing to extradite PKK/YPG members, also safeguard members of Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) being harbored in the country.

SWEDISH DEFENSE MINISTER Peter Hultqvist met with Mazloum Kobani, one of the so-called commanders of the PKK/YPG. After the meeting, Kobani made a statement expressing that Sweden will closely cooperate with the terrorist organization.

SWEDISH FOREIGN MINISTER ANN LINDE met with PKK/YPG members many times and declared some of such meetings on social media explicitly. The Turkish Foreign Ministry reacted to these meetings repeatedly, yet the Swedish side refused to cooperate.

THE PKK/YPG RECEIVES MASSIVE ANTI-TANK weapon support from Sweden. Hence, the terrorist organization has a huge amount of AT4s, a Swedish Saab production anti-tank weapon, in its hands. During the operations conducted in rural Hakkari in southeastern Turkey in September 2021, and Operation Claw and Tiger which started on 17 June 2021, scores of AT4S were captured in caves and shelters of the terrorist organization by Turkish security forces.

  • Sweden joining NATO would crush Russian power

Sweden joining NATO would crush Russian power

    • Both Finland and Sweden are set to join the NATO alliance this year.
    • The two countries, previously neutral, changed their minds after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
    • Finland and Sweden will both have to rejigger their armed forces away from territorial defense and toward helping defend an entire continent.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has created an unwanted situation for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and one of the most unexpected effects of his actions is the flipping of former neutral states Finland and Sweden into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Instead of intimidating his Scandinavian neighbors into accommodating his demands, Putin’s invasion has pushed them into the waiting arms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, where they will join 30 other countries in the collective defense of Europe.

The “24”-style thriller from Turkish producer Ay Yapim is one of the hottest of a new wave of Istanbul-set TV series.

20dakika_ekstra_007Swedish broadcaster SVT has picked up the rights to new Turkish drama series 20 Minutes, marking the second Turkish series the Swedish network will air in primetime.

SVT nabbed 20 Minutes, a 24-style beat-the-clock thriller about a man racing to save his wife, from Eccho Rights. The series, produced by Istanbul-based Ay Yapim, will go out in Sweden starting in January.

The deal follows a similar deal with Eccho earlier this year for The End, another red-hot Turkish TV serial.

Commented Fredrik af Malmborg, managing director at Eccho Rights: “earlier on this year SVT took the brave step to be the first Western broadcaster to air a Turkish drama when it screened The End. The launch worked very well, with good ratings and a strong reception in the press, so the acquisition of 20 Minutes is the natural next step.”

Turkey has become the new hot spot for international broadcasters looking for top-end drama. The territory’s booming TV industry has also attracted attention from Hollywood. 20th Century Fox Television and Sander Moses Productions have signed up for a U.S. adaptation of The End and Ay Yapim is in negotiations for an American take on 20 Minutes.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt on Tuesday called on Turkey to overhaul its terrorism laws, used by the country’s courts to jail journalists, as he met with President Abdullah Gül.

“Part of the constitution needs to clearly address the issue of freedom of the media,” Reinfeldt said during a press conference with Gül in Stockholm.

The Turkish parliament formed a special committee in May last year to draft a basic law that would replace the current constitution dating back to a military coup in 1980.

Turkey is the leading jailer of journalists worldwide, imprisoning even more than China or Iran, according to an October report by the US-based Committee to Protect Journalists.

Many journalists were being detained under the country’s broadly defined terrorism laws, according to Reinfeldt.

“We hope that a full judicial package adopted by the government will lead to a more narrow definition of terrorism,” he said.

“This is also an issue of how it is used by free-standing courts. But we have discussed it and I think reform is now on its way,” he added.

But the Turkish leader said Europe’s high standards for freedom of speech and other human rights could make countries vulnerable to terrorism.

“Democracy, human rights, freedom of expression standards in Europe are very high. Unfortunately at times, terrorism exploits that,” Gül said.

“Those people who have something to do with terrorism… make use of this superiority of European democracies, and turn it into a weakness in a way,” he added.

Turkish intelligence services and security forces were “always in close communication” with their European counterparts and shared information when necessary, he noted.

Reinfeldt also emphasized his hope to see long-stalled negotiations on Turkey’s application for membership in the European Union get a fresh start.

“We hope to be able to open a new negotiation chapter this spring,” said Reinfeldt, explaining that Turkey had made progress on the issue of minorities rights.

“Our discussions about the rights of Kurds have clearly developed over the years.”

Gül explained that some EU member states have created obstacles for Turkey’s EU membership bid, but asserted that “that’s not a reason to give up on membership”.

Gül’s visit to Stockholm will also resulted in the signing of a strategic partnership agreement on green energy technology cooperation between Sweden and Turkey.
