Gig Harbor, WA, June 19, 2021 – The first person to circumnavigate the world solo by human power, Erden Eruç, (pronounced Air-den Air-rooch) is launching on a second epic adventure, this time departing Crescent City, CA on June 22nd – destination, Hong Kong, PCR. Having successfully crossed four different oceans by rowing between 2006 – 2012, Eruç is estimating a 10-month crossing of the Pacific Ocean before making landfall. This will be the first mainland to mainland crossing of the Pacific between North America and Asia.

As an Ocean Ambassador for Ocean Recovery Alliance (ORA)will produce a stream of an educational content both in English and Chinese. Additionally, he will reach classrooms communicating by satellite phone with Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants. His educational and scientific mission earned Westbound Rower the recognition as a Flag Expedition by the prestigious Explorers Club.

I’m looking forward to connecting with more classrooms from my rowboat and spreading the message about the current state of our oceans. I have a unique perspective out at sea in which to capture the attention of students and other ocean advocates,” said Eruç.

About Erden Eruç – Westbound Rower

Eruç is a leading ocean rower in the world today. He is the recipient of the 2013 Citation of Merit from the Explorers Club, one of he 2013 Adventurers of the Year – “nine individuals changing the face of global adventure” by Outside Magazine. Fifteen Guinness World Records are registered to his name and listed in the 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018 & 2021 Guinness Book of World Records.

We believe that this historic crossing between the two continents will generate dedicated fans who will wake up wondering where Erden is, then check his progress on the tracking page before their morning meal. That interaction creates teachable moments to raise awareness about plastics in our ocean and the plight of all species under pressure from human activities. This Westbound Rower will take his followers on a transformational journey to become stewards of this planet,” said Doug Woodring,

  • Boxing: Gassiev defeats Dorticos in semi-final showdown

Murat Gassiev defeats Yunier Dorticos by vicious 12th round KO which could be a candidate for KO of the year. The fight was a part of the world boxing super series tournament, the second leg of the semi-final round (the first of which was won by Usyk). Murat Gassiev will take on Oleksandr Usyk in the final, which will take place in May in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The final of this tournament is promised to be a spectacular event with many fans from all over the world looking to book their tickets as soon as they become available. This featured bout is anticipated to live up to expectations as both fighters have proven their worth by defeating their previous adversaries in impressive fashion. Usyk is known as a boxer puncher who will be looking to use agility and quick footwork to outbox his opponent. Gassiev on the other hand is a KO artist who has knocked out 70% of the opponents he has faced. He will be looking to press the action, come forward and apply measured aggression.

Whatever the outcome, this night should be one to remember and one not to be missed.

  • Boxing: Billy Joe Saunders cruises to a unanimous decision over David Lemieux by displaying impeccable boxing skills

Billy joe Saunders defends his WBO World middleweight title in fashion by dominating David Lemieux over the course of 12 rounds. The fight started off as competitive as fighters took some time to ‘feel’ each other out. However, as early as the second round it started to appear that the jab of Saunders was giving Lemieux trouble.

As the fight wore on, Lemieux was finding it increasingly difficult to catch the ever illusive head of Saunders. Lemieux marching forward hitting thin air was generally the theme throughout the fight and the bout concluded with a decisive victory in favor of Saunders.

Lemieux goes on to reconsider his future in the sport of boxing whilst Saunders looks to unify the division with some possible matchups for the future. Who’s next for Saunders? GGG? Canelo or Jacobs?

  • Boxing: Vasyl Lomachenko retains his world super-featherweight title

Vasyl Lomachenko retains his WBO Super-featherweight world title after battling for six hard rounds. His adversary, Guillermo Rigondeaux refused to get up from his stool after the sixth round prompting the referee, Steve Willis to stop the fight.

The highly anticipated bout, which took place at the Madison Square Gardens in Las Vegas, marked a key milestone in featherweight boxing. Arguably the two best fighters of the lower divisions went to head to head to the better fighter was. Rigondeaux, who went up in weight to take on Lomachenko claimed he had injured his left hand and could not continue on the fight. Much speculation has been given to the authenticity of the claim and many fans argue that Rigondeaux could not cope with the frantic movement and agility of his rival and decided to quit. The true reason for a fight is to stay at the end of the fight, but there is no doubt that it will remain the center of discussion for many years to come.

Lomachenko goes on to be recognized as the best p4p fighter in the world and one of the best fighters of our generation. Rigondeaux on the other hand may need to consider hanging up the gloves. At 37 years of age, it really begs the question, how much more does it have to offer in this brutal sport?
