Membership of North Cyprus to Organization of Turkic States

The Cyprus issue, which has been on the table for the last fifty years, did not begin in 1974, as Greek Cypriots and Greeks claimed, and Turkey did not occupy the island. The Greek Cypriots’ and Greeks’ deceptive black propaganda tries to show that Turkey invaded the island of Cyprus in 1974 for no reason, but the reality is far from that. If there is an intention to understand the Cyprus problem, it is necessary to know the facts thoroughly…

Let me postpone telling you about the terror and massacres inflicted on the island of Cyprus by the Greeks between 1950 and 1960 in order to realize the Enosis ideal, and instead summarize the process that began in 1974.

The Republic of Cyprus was founded in 1960 by the “Constituent Communities” of Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots. While Armenians, Maronites, and Latins were classified as minorities in the Constitution, Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots were appointed as governing communities. Because the Greeks outnumbered the Turks, the Turkish Cypriots had veto rights at every stage of administration and decision-making, preventing the Greek Cypriots from managing the island alone with oppressive and restrictive methods through decisions they made on their own, and from annexing the island to Greece.

11.24.22 KKTC Bayragi TDT bayraklari arasinda 2

Throughout the process, Greek Cypriots were deeply troubled by the fact that the constitution granted Turkish Cypriots the right to participate in administration and sovereignty. To be able to rule the island on their own and annex it to Greece as soon as possible, they began efforts to “revoke 13 articles” in the Constitution that granted Turkish Cypriots the right of partnership.

To begin with, they proposed repealing the 13 articles of the Constitution that granted Turkish Cypriots the right to partnership. When Turkish Cypriots rejected this offer, they took it to Turkey, one of the guarantors of the Republic of Cyprus. When Turkey turned down this offer, they decided to change the constitution through armed force and gunpoint.

They planned an armed attack called “Akritas” with the assistance and planning of officers dispatched from Greece to exterminate the Turkish Cypriots in large numbers. On December 21, 1963, they began carrying out massacres by attacking Turkish Cypriots, the majority of whom live in small villages on the island of Cyprus. Greece sent a 20,000-strong Greek Division to the island of Cyprus on January 1, 1964, in violation of international rules, with the goal of contributing to the annihilation of Turkish Cypriots. Turkish Cypriots banded together to defend themselves and tried to repel Greek attacks as much as possible.

As part of the Turkish Cypriot extermination plan, many Turkish villages were burned down, Turkish Cypriots were killed, and their properties, houses, fields, livestock, and grains were confiscated in the first half of 1964. They took a step back with Turkey’s ultimatum after the big attack in 1967, but the social and economic bonding and fears of Turkish Cypriots persisted until 1974.

When relations between Makarios, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, and the Colonels’ Junta, which was in power in Greece, deteriorated, Greece staged a military coup on July 15, 1974, to depose Makarios.

The putschists overthrew the Republic of Cyprus and established a new state known as the “Hellenic Republic of Cyprus”. Then they declared that this state had been annexed by Greece.

Because the collapse of the Republic of Cyprus and the declaration of a new state on the island of Cyprus, as well as the declaration of the annexation of the island of Cyprus to Greece, were in violation of the Republic of Cyprus’s 1960 Constitution and international law, Turkey intervened in 1974 to restore the Republic of Cyprus as a guarantor country.

This is precisely the context for Greek and Greek accusations that “Turkey has occupied the island.” The accusation is entirely fictitious and serves no purpose other than to cover up Greek Cypriot’s and Greece’s own actions.

Following Turkey’s legal and legitimate intervention in 1974, Turkish Cypriots migrated to the northern part of the island and established their own administration to protect themselves from Greek Cypriot attacks. The “Turkish Cypriot Federated State” was established in 1975 with the goal of establishing a “Federal State” jointly with the Greek Cypriots. When the second stage of negotiations, which began in 1977, failed to produce results for six years, due to the Greek Cypriots’ desire to dominate the island solely, Turkish Cypriots declared the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (TRNC) in 1983 in order to continue the Cyprus negotiations on an equal footing.

The Western world (particularly the United States and the European Union), which contends that Turkey’s legitimate intervention is an occupation – in accordance with Greek theses – chose to punish Turkish Cypriots rather than recognize them. With their inhumane decisions in the United Nations Security Council, they isolated Turkish Cypriots from the rest of the world, severed ties with the other countries, and worked tirelessly to bring them under Greek Cypriot control. Despite the passage of 48 years, Turkish Cypriots’ ties to the rest of the world remain severed. There are no direct flights. Commercial, economic, cultural, educational, sporting, and political connections are all disrupted. Thankfully, after 59 years, the “Organization of Turkic States,” an international community, accepted Turkish Cypriots as members, even if only as observers, with their own state’s name.

Worse, the United States, European Union, Greek Cypriots, and Greeks, who are proud to be the flag bearers of “human rights, democracy, and freedoms,” are working hard to cancel and disrupt Turkish Cypriot membership in the Organization of Turkic States.

This membership is critical for Turkish Cypriots because it provides access to the rest of the world. It demonstrates that Turkish Cypriots are no longer alone, and that they are part of the Organization of Turkic States, which produces more than a trillion dollars in services and goods, has a population of 170 million, and is attempting to become the sole military and political power in the region.

This is the Western world’s problem. They both attack Turkey and make no attempt to hide their dissatisfaction with the TRNC’s visibility, fearing that they will not be able to dominate the Eastern Mediterranean on their own, under any circumstances, or have access to the existing oil and gas fields.

That is, the value and level of the Western world’s “concept of human rights, freedom, and equality” is clearly explained by the deceased British Prime Minister Churchill’s remark, “A drop of oil is more valuable than a drop of human blood.”

Of course, the main goal of the West under any circumstance…

    GREECE’S NATURAL GAS STRATEGY

    Prof. Dr. Ata Atun

For a long time, Greece has been very concerned about losing its regional importance, not being taken into account, and not being placed in the position of a respectable state. The recent rise of Türkiye as a global actor has severely harmed Greek politicians’ morale and future plans, to the point where they have begun to plot ways to discredit Türkiye.

Their first attempt to cause problems and enter into armed conflict with Türkiye in order to expel Türkiye from the Aegean Sea was to arm the islands near the Turkish coast, in violation of the Zurich Agreement.

Other initiatives that followed included the use of the S-300 defense system against Turkish jets, which the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus had purchased from the Russian Federation during the Glafkos Clerides era to use against Türkiye but was forced to transfer to Greece due to Turkish political pressure.

The Greeks’ goal in this incident is clear: to incite conflict with Türkiye. As a result, it will start a war or spark a conflict between Türkiye and the West by forcing Türkiye to activate the S-400s in its possession. The (HISAR U) SIPER Block-1 air defense missile, which is more advanced than the S-400s that Greece has forgotten about and will be included in the Turkish Arms Forces inventory in 2023, has a range of 100 kilometers.

    09.03.22 Greeces Natural Gas Strategy

The Turkish Air Defense system has the capability and equipment to detect and destroy a military jet plane taking off from Greece in the middle of the Aegean Sea.

Türkiye has two seismic research vessels and four deep-sea drilling vessels at the moment. Its navy consists of new ships outfitted with cutting-edge technology. It goes without saying that it also has the region’s most powerful navy.

Indeed, Greece’s strategy and ultimate goal, as it is known, is to seize natural gas deposits in the Eastern Mediterranean and establish a gas empire that transports gas to Europe under its own control.

Greece, seeing Türkiye as the only impediment to its plan, is attempting to eliminate Türkiye in order to realize its dream of a gas empire.

Greece, which prefers to begin by instilling tension in order to achieve this goal, wishes to undermine all of Türkiye’s contributions to world peace, particularly in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and to discredit Türkiye.

Its goal is to inadvertently cause problems in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean, pitting Türkiye against the so-called “West”, the EU and US alliance.

To use this crisis to force a portion of the Turkish Navy to deploy in the Aegean Sea and the remainder in the Eastern Mediterranean in response to Greece’s deliberate provocations. To weaken the defenses of the “Blue Homeland” by dividing Turkish Navy into two parts. To form alliances with states in the region that are hostile to or disagree with Türkiye on the basis of hostility. Encircling Türkiye along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts and immobilizing it, as well as seizing a large portion of the Eastern Mediterranean’s natural gas reserves.

However, Greece’s Eastern Mediterranean Strategy has been a colossal failure.

The relations between the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Egypt, in which he had put his trust and attempted to form a strong front against Türkiye, abruptly shifted. Greece’s role in the Eastern Mediterranean was quickly eroded by Türkiye’s successive moves, despite the support of France and the United States.

The world has realized that Greece’s efforts are futile and that no initiative in the Eastern Mediterranean will succeed without Türkiye and Turkish Cypriots, and Greece will realize this as well.

  • The Endless Lies of the Greeks

The Endless Lies of the Greeks

Without being embarrassed or bored, the Greek Cypriots continue the diplomatic games and lies of Byzantium, of which they are a relic.

The official statement issued by the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (Greek Cypriot Administration) in 1974 regarding Turkey’s “Peace Operation” that brought permanent peace to the island is based on completely false and biased justifications. Their goal is to justify themselves by concealing the truth from the rest of the world.

Saying that the facts are not what they appear to be, that history cannot be falsified, let us emphasize once more: Turkey did not invade the island in 1974; it came to save the wholly occupied island.

After months of planning, Greece’s ruling Junta of Colonels launched a military coup on July 15, 1974, to depose the then-President of the Republic of Cyprus, Makarios, and to dissolve the Republic of Cyprus and replace it with the “Hellenic Republic of Cyprus.”

08.22.22 Endless lies of Greeks 1

Following the success of the military coup, the final step was to annex Cyprus to Greece and implement Article 8 of the “Megali Idea.”

After two days of internal conflict, the “military coup” that began on July 15th was successful. At the time, Makarios, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, was forced to flee his palace in Nicosia.

Makarios supporters were massacred and imprisoned by EOKA B militias. Known and well-known Makarios supporters, such as “Tassos Papadopoulos,” who would become President of the Greek Cypriot Administration about 30 years after the coup, were imprisoned in the RMMO camp in Famagusta, which now houses the “Gülseren Training Battalion.” They also slaughtered AKEL supporters, a left-wing political party. Many Greeks, who are still mourning their loss, have been brutally executed by the EOKA B’ists simply because they are leftists.

The Junta of Colonels in Greece proclaimed EOKA hitman Nikos Sampson President on the afternoon of July 15, 1974, before the coup d’état organized by the Junta of Colonels in Greece had yet to succeed. Nikos Sampson, who appeared on the CRBC (Cyprus Radio Broadcasting Corporation) television broadcast, which was not available on any other TV channel at the time, made a speech informing about the coup and finally announced that Makarios had been killed and declared the “REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS HELEN.” Nikos Sampson’s speech, mannerisms, gestures, voice, and proud and rowdy demeanor that day remain vivid in my memory.

On the morning of July 16, I listened to the deposed President Makarios’ people, who began with a tearful voice saying, “Ime Makarios” – I am Makarios. The weeping voice of Makarios, who sees himself as the future President of Greece, surprised me.

Nikos Sampson was unable to form a ten-member Council of Ministers three days after being appointed President. He was able to find five people, but none of the remaining five ministries were accepted. He announced on the radio a few days later that he was annexing the “Hellenic Republic of Cyprus” to Greece.

Although all of these events, which began with a coup in Cyprus on July 15, are written historical facts, Greek Cypriots have always based their propaganda on the day on July 20, when Turkish troops arrived on the island. They never mention the July 15 coup or the genocide they committed against Turks between December 21, 1963 and July 20, 1974, because it did not suit them.

Makarios, who fled the island with a bloody coup supported by the Greek Junta, revealed the facts with full clarity in his speech to the United Nations Security Council on July 19, 1974, and said, “Greece has invaded our island.” (Video URL:

If Turkey had not intervened in accordance with international law on July 20, 1974, the island of Cyprus would have become Greek territory today, leaving only a few hundred Turkish Cypriots who were allowed to live in Cyprus for propaganda purposes. Most importantly, the United States and the European Union would not speak out against Greece’s annexation of Cyprus. July 15, 1974 was to be declared the “Day of Victory” in Hellenic history, to be celebrated every year with great zeal and in a manner that would impress the Turks.

While the facts are as stated, we owe it to ourselves to tell and spread the truths that the Greeks keep hidden even from their own youth. Even Makarios’ UN speech emphasizes the importance of Turkey’s presence on the island.

  • Could U.S.-Turkey Relations Deteriorate?

    Could U.S.-Turkey Relations Deteriorate?

US President Joe Biden remarked while attending the NATO Summit in Madrid on June 30, “We should sell them [Turkey] the F-16 jets and modernize those jets as well. It’s not in our interest not to do that.” His statement sparked American anti-Turkey organizations to take action. In a scandalous letter signed by 35 members of the US Congress, these lobbies asked President Biden “Not to sell F-16s to Turkey”. We are not surprised by those anti-Turkish actions, but it is wrong to hand over control of the floor to these masters of misinformation.

The US’s policies in the Balkans, the Sea of Islands, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, the Caspian Region, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea Region are all dependent on Turkey, indispensable ally and strategic partner of the US. Now let’s talk about whether the US administration will be influenced by these lobbies. Turkey is the main player. President Biden, as well as the Pentagon, will not allow those provocations to jeopardise US’s regional interests. For political reasons, Greece is no longer as significant to the US as it once was. The Greek lobby’s anger is actually a tear of frustration.

    07.14.22 ABD Turkiye iliskileri 1

I believe that the fact that 37 more nations together with the United States in taking part in the EFES-2022 military exercise in the Sea of Islands shows how significant Turkey is as a regional power. Events like the demise of anti-Turkey organizations, which were once elevated to the status of American allies in the Middle East, and the subsequent loss of this position, as well as the emergence of the global food and energy crisis with the Ukraine-Russia war that marked the year 2022, seriously exposed Turkey’s regional value in terms of the establishment of regional peace and the transfer of grain and energy to neighboring countries. How strongly US regional interests are connected to Turkey may be shown by the US Department of Defense’s funding for the upgrading of Turkey’s F-16 fleet.

Despite these facts, it is inevitable that the center of gravity within the Western bloc will start to move if US President Biden cannot persuade the US Congress and the sale of new F-16s to Turkey cannot be realized. It is obvious that the US will lose a significant amount of strength in the region if it loses the Incirlik airbase and electronic listening facility, the Kürecik Air Defense system, the Sinop regional listening facilities, and notably Turkey as an ally as a result of the lobbying.

The center shift refers to the US ceding control of regional administration in NATO and Europe to other nations. This change could manifest itself, for instance, when Turkey and Britain’s military and commercial ties grow. The western bloc’s US-centric center could start to move eastward towards Europe. Most significantly, this might shatter Ankara’s long-standing trust in Washington. In other words, when the US’s relationship with Turkey, a regional power, breaks down, the country’s already waning influence in the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the Caucasus will reach a breaking point.

In conclusion, the United States must now pick a side.

Is it Turkey, the country, when USA is in need, offers a spoonful of honey by saying we’re allies, man!. Or the weak, unimportant nations like Armenia, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot Administration that no longer hold any regional significance?

I am confident that, in the end, common sense will prevail and President Biden and his administration will not be swayed by these masters of misinformation who are solely supported by lobbying.

  • UN and Cyprus Issue Resolution

    UN and Cyprus Issue Resolution

The draft report that Guterres provided to the parties on the extension of the UN Peacekeeping Force’s mandate in Cyprus differs from previous Greek and pro-Greek reports in terms of content, language, and methodology.

This time, the report bears little resemblance to earlier rulings regarding Cyprus and the UN’s guidelines. The previously agreed-upon solution to the Cyprus issue is not mentioned. In other words, no mention has ever been made of the bi-communal and bi-zonal Federation.

    Tatar Guterres Anastasiadis

The negotiations that ended in Crans Montana in 2017 were delayed from starting because to the maximalist demands of Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades. It seems UN Secretary-General Guterres is still unsure on how to restart talks. The negotiations, which were started in 1977 with the goal of “Federation,” seem to have been abandoned by the UN Secretary-General. The “two-state solution based on sovereign equality in Cyprus” is gaining support from the Republic of Turkey and TRNC President Ersin Tatar.

What is novel is that Turkey’s demand for NATO nations to adopt the TRNC is also being debated behind closed doors as talks on Sweden and Finland’s entrance to the alliance continue.

At every chance, Greece and the Greek Cypriot side have exercised their veto power against Turkey’s membership in and relations with the EU. It’s a recent development now that Turkey has established its use of its “veto power” within NATO as regular and acceptable. It is also interesting to note that Britain, the Republic of Cyprus’ third guarantor in 1960, viewed this matter favourably as well.

The informal report on the Goodwill Mission of the UN Secretary-General and the extension of UNFICYP’s mission will be reviewed on July 18 and released at the end of the month.

The negotiations came to a standstill in 2017 at Crans Montana because to the maximalist demands made by the Greek Cypriot side. The Greek Cypriot side will now, as usual, voice objections to the draft report, attempt to alter its content, and lay responsibility on Turkey. The report will therefore primarily represent their preferences. The Turkish side won’t accept the report.

This is the reason why it has taken so long to find a solution to the Cyprus issue: The fact that the Greek Cypriots do not want a solution, that they prevent a solution by using every opportunity, that they believe that they own the island and that the Turkish Cypriots are a minority. And last, the Enosis, a utopic vision of the Hellenic world that Cyprus should annex to Greece.

As you can see, it is impossible to reach a deal with this utopic ideals of the Greek Cypriots, regardless of who takes office in the TRNC and Southern Cyprus.
