Stop plans to construct the new Embassy of the#USA on the grounds of the #AOC
Mr. Bass
Ambassador of United States of America to Turkey
Your Excellency,
We the undersigned are disturbed to read in our newspapers that a new American Embassy building is to be erected on the grounds of our Atatürk Orman Çiftliği.
The newspapers state that an area of about 40.000 square meters of our Atatürk Orman Çiftliği was allocated to TOKİ, which in return was sold to the USA for their new Embassy project.
We understand that in the 21st Century a world leader like The United States of America needs and deserves an Embassy that will provide space necessary for their requirements.
However, Atatürk, the founder of our Republic donated this land to the Turkish People. It is the heritage of the Turkish People Politicians are here today gone tomorrow, but the feelings of the Turkish People will be irrepairably damaged by the idea that a land given to them by Atatürk has been sold out by the present administration.
We, therefore, ask you and your Esteemed Government to consider using this land for some cultural or public function that recognises The United States’s admiration for Atatürk and request that you construct your new Embassy building in another area which will meet your requirements.
Yours sincerely
