The CE Ministers of Justice held the 30th forum in Istanbul. The event was marred by the Azerbaijani delegation’s provocations, the press service of the RA Ministry of Justice informed NEWS.am.
The Azeri Minister of Justice stated Azerbaijan needs new penitentiary institutions. Specifically, a new prison needs to the constructed in Nakhichevan because of the “aggression by the neighboring country and occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territories.”
The Armenian delegation did not overlook the statement and called for keeping close to the topic of the conference instead of making political statements or hints.
RA Deputy Minister of Justice Nikolay Arustamyan stated that there were no legal grounds for such claims.
CE Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg and Mauro Palma, President of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture, spoke at the conference.
