The word is derived from Turkish yoğurt, and is related to yoğurmak ‘to knead’ and yoğun “dense” or “thick”. 164129 129155500484815 102386316495067 182709 4576795 nThere is evidence of precultured milk products being produced as food for at least 4,500 years. The earliest yoghurts were probably spontaneously fermented by wild bacteria.The oldest writings mentioning yogurt are attributed to Pliny the Elder, who remarked that certain nomadic tribes knew how “to thicken the milk into a substance with an agreeable acidity”. The use of yoghurt by medieval Turks is recorded in the books Diwan Lughat al-Turk by Mahmud Kashgari and Kutadgu Bilig by Yusuf Has Hajib written in the 11th century. Both texts mention the word “yoghurt” in different sections and describe its use by nomadic Turks.

    YOGURT is invented by the turks in the central Asia long long time ago.Even the word is Turkish .DO NOT EAT labeled as GREEK YOGURT (you are being fooled with different additives to make looks different texture from the Turkish natural yogurt. You see Greeks ( ortodoxs countries are thives and stealing Turkish cousine from the anciet Turks and Labaling them as their food with different additives far from natural and original ( organic ) forms… here are some of them ( Baklava,Dolma,Yogurt,sis Kebab etc ) These are some samples of Turkish foods ans including THEIR NAMES ARE TURKISH SO ,NEXT TIME DO NOT BUY AS GREEK YOGURT and BUY YOGURT as a YOGURT and labeled MADE IN TURKEY ( ortiginal and organik ) P,S; this is greeks (ortodoks countries ) game of marketing against the Turks and fooling people around the world and this is one of the many samples
