Clinton Reaffirms Strong U.S. Support For Turkey’s EU Bid

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton renewed Tuesday U.S. government’s strong support for Turkey’s bid to become an EU member.

At a joint press conference with Austria’s Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, Clinton answered a question on Turkey’s EU process.

Clinton said the United States, along with many other European countries, supported Turkey’s membership inside the EU.

“I know that it is an issue that divides the European Union. We do not have a vote, but if we were a member, we would be strongly in favor of it,” Clinton said.
