I understand Mr. Erdogan’s disappointment because he really did his utmost to satisfy Kurdish needs or demands with regards to more linguistic, cultural and general human rights for his Kurdish speaking citizens.
As in the case of the Turkish EU-membership process, the target is moving all the time. In other words,
no matter what Turkey does, no matter what gestures and compromises one does, it will never be enough. So, what do they really want? The answer is; BLOOD. Yes, Turkish blood and the eventual
destruction of the secular, national state. All this may not have to do with revenge for Turkey’s war of independence 1919 – 1923, but perhaps
more to do with the Turkish Water reservoirs of South eastern Turkey and ther energy supply routes.
This is also the exact reason why the West is so hung up on Cyprus. The original English strategy was to safeguard the entry to the Suez Canal, so nothing has really changed, except the stage and actors. So, Prime Minister Erdogan should stop complaining and get his countries undivided support, and then
start playing the game according to the rules. Negotiating is like a game, and remember, all games have rules. Mr Erdogan’s yellow card is already visible, so it’s not really too late yet.
