Jones Plaza, Houston, TX For the first time in its history, the festival will be 2 days. TUANA Folk Dance & Art Club from Turkey will perform whirling dervishes, Ottoman military band in addition to folk dances from various regions, and a surprise for the kids. Baris, who entertained everyone with most popular Turkish songs last year, is coming back for a concert on Saturday. Great food, Grand Bazaar, arts & crafts from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Bosnia, and more await everyone.

Seattle Center House, Seattle, WA The theme for TurkFest 2009, Cultural Reflections of Nature, stems from an ancient western Anatolian philosophy that describes earth, air, water, and fire as the four basic elements of nature. Festival attractions will explore the historical, social, and cultural connection between humanity and nature to demonstrate how the natural elements shape people’s lives in and around Turkey.
